Introduction to bushcraft

Service Description

Please arrive at 9:15am for a 9:30am prompt start. Activity Details 9:30-9:40 Meeting and introductions Your instructor will welcome you in the car park before making our way to our base camp for the day. 9:40-10:30 Foraging walk   As the team makes their way to base camp, they will learn about the various uses of plants and trees and how they can be used for food, medicine or your other uses in a survival situation. 10:30-11:45 Introduction to fire lighting skills The group will be shown the foundation and aspects that lead to the successful building of a fire. After a demonstration, everyone will get involved with practising the techniques. You will learn how to use a ferro rod with various tinder, flint and steel. We will then collect fire wood so you can enjoy your packed lunch by the fire. 11:45-12:00 Break 12:00-2:30 Prepare lunch and enjoy the feast! The group will need to cooperate to cook a meal. The team will learn how to prepare the fish and then cook it over the fire to have with baked sweet potatoes, beans, cheese and salad. Finish off with a sweet treat of chocolate bananas cooked in the embers of the fire. 2:00-2:30 Water skills More than half the human body is made up of water. Learn sources of water collection and how to make water safe to drink for your survival. 2:30-4:15pm Shelter building Learn various techniques to build a natural shelter and then as a group, make a natural shelter that would be good enough to sleep in. 4:15- 4:30 Depart Reflect on what you have learnt today and the return to the car park

1. Confirmed Bookings A booking will be deemed confirmed upon receipt of full payment. 2. Extreme Weather Courses will go ahead in all weather unless deemed unsuitable by London Bushcraft. Please note this is very rare. If the course is cancelled by London Bushcraft you will receive a full refund or you may rebook for another date. 3. Responsibility Persons using tools will be expected to consider the safety of others as well as their own. Dangerous behaviour will result in a caution, or, if necessary, dismissal from the course. 4. Repairs Individuals are liable for the cost of repairs made necessary by wilful damage to equipment or to Landowner's property. 5. Public Liability Cover and Police Checks London Bushcraft is covered for Public Liability and all staff have a valid DBS certificate. 6. Important Notice On nearly all courses you will be in a woodland environment, cooking on open fires. It is therefore quite possible to burn, stain or otherwise damage your equipment and or clothes. London Bushcraft can take no responsibility for the condition of your, or anyone else's, personal belongings you may wish to bring. Please ask for any further details. 7. Consent letters It is up to the person booking to ensure that parents know about how that can read the consent letter that they can find on our website. It is the responsibility of the person booking to collect any dietary requirements and medical issues and discuss theses with the instructor on the day. It is the responsibility of the person booking the party to collect emergency contact details of parents before the party. 8. Cancellations Cancellation fees apply less than two weeks before the event. Less than 4 weeks before the event: 50%. Less than 7 days before the event: Full fees apply
